The Lakshmi Ashtottara Shatanama Stotram is a sacred hymn that extols Goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune, and auspiciousness. This stotram comprises 108 names of Goddess Lakshmi that are mentioned in the verses of the hymn.

The divine names mentioned in the verses explain the greatness and divine attributes of Goddess Lakshmi as well as the blessings she bestows to her devotees. The hymn has all the names found in Lakshmi Ashtottara Shatanamavali which were put together as a stotram, so that devotees can easily recite and remember them.

Reciting this stotram is said to have immense benefits which find mention in its last three stanzas. If one recites this stotram with the full understanding of its meaning and with true devotion, they will be able to gain victory, eliminate poverty, obtain great wealth, and also moksha or liberation.

Goddess Lakshmi is shown wearing a red saree, adorned with gold jewelry, and seated on a lotus, with a pot in her hand. On either side of her are white elephants. One can see the image of Goddess Lakshmi in most Hindu homes and business establishments.

As the goddess of wealth, power, fortune, beauty, luxury, fertility, and auspiciousness, Lakshmi is a popular goddess. She bestows material fulfillment as well as contentment. Goddess Lakshmi is said to have 8 forms, which signify 8 forms of wealth. The 8 forms of Lakshmi are called Ashta Lakshmi. They are Adi Lakshmi (salvation), Dhana Lakshmi (wealth), Dhanya Lakshmi (food), Santhana Lakshmi (progeny), Gaja Lakshmi (animal wealth), Vidya Lakshmi (knowledge), Vijaya Lakshmi (victory), and Veera/Dhairya Lakshmi (courage).

devadeva mahadeva trikalajna mahesvara ।

astottarasatam laksmyah srotumicchami tattvatah ।
isvara uvaca
devi sadhu mahabhage mahabhagyapradayakam ।
sarvaisvaryakaram punyam sarvapapapranasanam ॥ 2 ॥

arvadaridryasamanam sravanadbhuktimuktidam ।
rajavasyakaram divyam guhyadguhyatamam param ॥ 3 ॥

durlabham sarvadevanam catuhsastikalaspadam ।
padmadinam varantanam vidhinam nityadayakam ॥ 4 ॥

samastadevasamsevyamanimadyastasiddhidam ।
kimatra bahunoktena devi pratyaksadayakam ॥ 5 ॥

tava prityadya vaksyami samahitamanah srnum ।
